How I can help

Psychological therapy is a private space to understand what is happening, make sense of patterns, and build practical strategies that fit the person and their circumstances. Support may include help to:

  • Understand why you or your child may be feeling, thinking or reacting this way
  • Identify triggers, patterns and early warning signs
  • Develop coping strategies for anxiety, stress and low mood
  • Build emotional regulation and distress-tolerance skills
  • Work through trauma, grief or difficult memories at a safe pace
  • Improve communication, boundaries and relationship patterns
  • Plan practical next steps for school, work, family or home stress
  • Reduce avoidance and rebuild confidence gradually
  • Use evidence-informed approaches such as CBT, ACT, DBT, EMDR, Schema Therapy, mindfulness and exposure therapy where suitable
  • Create behavioural plans and consistent support strategies
  • Support eating-disorder recovery and body-image work
  • Coordinate with GPs, referrers or other professionals when appropriate and with consent
  • Include Winston for Animal Assisted Therapy when suitable and chosen by the client
  • Support Telehealth or face-to-face appointments where appropriate

What's the difference between a Psychologist and a Psychiatrist?

Kelly is a psychologist. This means she works with people through talking, listening, careful assessment, and practical therapy. A psychologist can help you better understand why you may be feeling a certain way, what might be triggering those feelings, and what patterns may be keeping things difficult.

Seeing a psychologist can be useful when you want help making sense of anxiety, sadness, stress, trauma, relationship problems, family pressure, school or work worries, or feeling stuck. Kelly can help you build strategies to cope, communicate, regulate emotions, make safer choices, and take practical steps forward at a pace that suits you.

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who specialises in mental health and can prescribe medication. Some people see both a psychologist and a psychiatrist, especially if medication or more medical support is needed. If that kind of extra support would be helpful, Kelly can work alongside your GP or other health professionals with your consent.
